OVERVIEW :

• The Department of Microbiology has now evolved into the era of Automation for rapid laboratory diagnosis to support clinical diagnosis.
• The department has already begun its journey of up gradation by installing the following systems-

1. BACTEC blood culture system
2. VITEK 2 ( Automated culture and antibiotic sensitivity system)
3. Viral Diagnostic Laboratory- RT-PCR
4. Also installation of anaerobic work station has been envisioned in the near future.
5. The Department is committed towards undergraduate academic training to inculcate skills, ethics & values among students

VISION:

• Vision of Microbiology Department is to provide upto date and holistic theoretical , clinical training , innovations & research in all disciplines of Microbiology. Our department is committed for diagnostics in patient care and to provide strong basic applied knowledge for students.

MISSION:

• Department of Microbiology deals with the latest diagnostic techniques, research and teaching methods in areas of Bacteriology, Virology, Mycology, Immunology, Parasitology, Serology , Mycobacteriology and Hospital infection Control & good laboratory practices.
• The department has taken a major initiative in Hospital Infection Control. The major components of activities undertaken by the department are manpower development through training for nurses to generate a backup of infection control team nurses and monitoring of antimicrobial resistant organisms.
• Microbiology has now evolved into the era of Automation for rapid laboratory diagnosis to support clinical diagnosis. The department has already begun its journey of upgradation by installing the following systems-

  • VITEK 2 ( Automated culture and antibiotic sensitivity system)
  • Viral Diagnostic Laboratory- RT-PCR

Also installation of following systems and Laboratories in near future has been envisioned.
