Department of Paediatrics , Malla Reddy Medical College for Women, proudly a branch of Malla Reddy Vishwa Vidyapeeth University—a premier tertiary-level institution dedicated to excellence in healthcare education and maternal-child wellness has celebrated World Breastfeeding Week 2026 in the first week of August ,which is not just a calendar event, in fact is a global movement to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding. As future and practicing healthcare professionals, we witness that early and exclusive breastfeeding lays a golden foundation for a newborn’s lifelong health and the ultimate personalized nutrition for an infant and protect against infections and chronic diseases.
It was emphasized in all sessions that a health care worker’s role extends far beyond hospital walls as educator, counselor and pillars of support for new mothers, helping them navigate this beautiful journey.
Few glimpses of our institution’s ongoing initiatives, community outreach, and dedication toward maternal and child healthcare are as below
Day 1 – Poster competition and slogan / caption writing for UG and PG students , Interns , Nursing staff
Day 2 – Role play , Singing and clearing the myths and sharing the facts about Breastfeeding with patients in wards and OPD of Paediatrics , Obstetrics

Day 4 – Rangoli competition
Day 5 – Awareness walk and Flashmob
